Overview
A Journey with Purpose
At 66 years old, Lim Shyang Guey (SG) is embarking on the run of a lifetime. A journey driven by love, remembrance, and hope.
After losing his wife Joo Lee to cancer in 2025, SG chose to complete a dream they once shared: travelling around Peninsular Malaysia on foot . This time, he runs solo with a renewed purpose — to raise awareness for childhood cancer and support children and families fighting the disease.
Beginning 28 March 2026 in Penang , SG will run 2,200 km across all 11 states and federal territories over approximately 90 days , covering ~ 25–35 km daily . Every kilometer is dedicated to supporting the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) .
Run For Gold carries the meaning of the Gold Ribbon , the universal symbol of childhood cancer awareness — representing courage, strength, and the preciousness of every child.
This is more than an endurance challenge. It’s a promise that no child faces cancer alone and that every step can help change a life.
